Digid – Dub 2 Babylon EP (MSEP012) – Review

Seemingly unable to halt with conjuring up anthemic releases, Digid has stamped his silky smooth signature sound into a 7-track EP, marking his first outing in 2014. Brimming with thick grooves, melodic synths and dubwise vibes, Dub 2 Babylon EP slides eloquently in alongside the Belgian’s already superb back-catalogue.
Having already impressed on imprints such as New World Audio and Warriorz Records, Digid’s deep rhythmic tones suits correctly as music for your MindStep.

Encapsulating nothing but positive vibrations, his latest work conveys a slick fusion of weighty half-step dunked in with a colourful soundscape of reggae horns and off-beat guitar strumming. Basing his craft around a profoundly spaced-out formula as well as pertaining to the genre’s roots, Digid has fine-tuned three of the featured tracks into separate dub edits.

Sub frequencies warmly permeate throughout every production, harking back to the essence of the true dub sound with a refreshing touch. By doing so Digid has managed to create the ideal middleground between uplifting reggae flavours and the absorbing depths of modern bass music.
