From late 90s jungle, through to garage, onto grime, then dubstep and beyond, MC Flowdan has overseen the growing evolution of UK underground music since his very first involvement.
East London born and bred, Flowdan’s strong hand in boosting the emergence of budding music scenes has in turn helped himself to build his own legacy. Originally gaining real momentum with the Roll Deep group in 2002, he has downright established himself as a veteran of the grime scene with features on all of the collective’s major releases. Having made countless appearances on BBC 1Xtra over the years alongside Wiley & co., he is now one of the last few remaining founding members of the Roll Deep crew.
Flowdan’s commanding voice and intense stage presence means that he is a staple on event lineups all year round. His endeavours in bridging the gap between grime and dubstep has worked wonders, with classic collaborations alongside The Bug with ‘Skeng‘ & ‘Jah War‘. Furthermore, he has stamped more than a mark on multiple spheres of bass music beside top producers such as Jubei, Kahn, Kaiju and Decibel.
After making some fine performances previously on Rinse FM, GetDarker and also SB.TV with the Kaleidoscope Orchestra, 2014 is looking to be another climatic year for Flowdan. His impending solo EP entitled ‘Serious Business‘, is due to be released on one of the UK’s most integral electronic music labels; Hyperdub Records. So do be sure to keep your eyes and ears open on the original Dan!
